Unite members have voted to accept the revised pay offer from local government employers in Scotland.
Unite’s local government members returned a 71% ‘yes’ vote in a consultative ballot to accept the revised offer made by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities’ (COSLA).
COSLA offered a minimum increase of 3.6% and for staff on the first pay point on pay scales 5.63%, amounting to £1,292. The overall value of the offer is 4.27%.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: ‘Unite’s members have overwhelmingly voted to accept COSLA’s revised pay offer. A minimum increase of nearly £1,300 for the lowest paid will be a welcome boost to the pay packets of our members who provide vital frontline local services.’
The Unite, GMB and UNISON unions agreed to suspend a planned walk out from 14 to 22 August while they consulted their members over the pay deal.
GMB last week backed the pay offer after a ballot saw 78% of members support it.
UNISON rejected the offer on Tuesday (September 3rd) with 86% of members opposed.
