The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has created a taskforce to understand the drivers behind the decline in community cohesion, The MJ has learnt.

It comes after a private acceptance in the department that it has not recognised legitimate concerns and has lacked strategy, which has hindered councils' ability to respond to local threats.
