Schools in parts of Scotland were closed on Wednesday as non-teaching staff went on strike in an ongoing dispute over local government pay.
Members of trade union Unison in Glasgow City, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde took part in the industrial action.
Unison has served notice of further industrial action on 8 and 15 November to other councils across Scotland.
The action comes after Unison members voted to reject the latest pay offer made by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), which involved a 10% pay boost for the lowest paid staff.
Unison Scotland’s head of local government Johanna Baxter said Unison members were ‘determined to continue to fight to get an improved pay offer’ after the two other major local government unions, Unite and the GMB, voted to accept COSLA’s proposal.
COSLA has said the offer is ‘as far as local government can go without impacting service and jobs’.
