Unison members in Scotland today rejected local government employers’ latest pay deal, which would have seen the lowest-paid staff receive a 10% wage boost.

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) described Unison’s decision as ‘very disappointing given the strength of the offer on the table’ and claimed the offer was ‘as far as local government can go without impacting service and jobs’.

But Union members in Scotland said the suggested deal ‘did not go far enough’.

The two other major local government unions – Unite and the GMB – will announce the results of their ballots on the same deal tomorrow.
