Reform UK council leader announces Lincolnshire County Council will require service cuts to ensure sufficient savings.
In the council’s scrutiny and management board meeting last Thursday, council leader Sean Matthews said the cuts are necessary in order to reach the council’s savings target of £25.4m in the financial year 2026/27.
Explaining the timeline of the savings plan, Cllr Matthews confirmed the proposals for the cuts will be revealed later in the year, reported the BBC.
Cllr Matthews said that if an efficiency review was requested, ‘it would be conducted in line with the constitution, in a safe and legal manner, with the full support and advice and involvement of the officers of the council.’
‘Reform were given a mandate to cut waste, streamline and save money, and this type of review was part of the campaign’, he added.
