Mayor keen to identify officers responsible for cash failures

Bristol mayor Marvin Rees is keen to identify the individuals to blame for the state of the council’s finances, The MJ understands.

A source said Mayor Rees would, if necessary, take disciplinary action against officers, which is behind his decision to commission a further review.

Mayor Rees has asked the Local Government Association to recommend an independent expert to ‘identify the processes and mistakes’ that led to the ‘poor financial situation’ he inherited.
