Leeds council set to launch inquiry into the use of fireworks

A local authority has decided to hold an inquiry into the use of fireworks after receiving complaints about residents setting them off on regular occasions.

Leeds City Council's Environment Scrutiny Committee has resolved on a cross party basis to have a more detailed inquiry into the use of fireworks.

It will focus on the licensing and sale of the products, as well as on their impact on vulnerable people and animals.

The inquiry, which will involve a consultation with fire, police, licensing and Trading Standards services, will also look at anti-social behaviour and the impact on emergency services.
