The Government will need to take ‘action on multiple fronts’ to lift more children out of poverty, a think-tank has said.

A new report from the Resolution Foundation found that 70% of families in poverty have at least one working parent, a significant increase from 50% in 2000.

Labour’s child poverty strategy will need to support working families to earn more if it is to be ‘fit for the 2020s’, the study says.

Titled Working Poverty Out, the report urges the Government to address childcare costs and availability and enhance workers' rights to help improve the financial situations of struggling families.
