Kent facing days of disruption

Kent CC is facing a Christmas of dealing with the fallout from the closure of the French border.

An agreement has been brokered that will enable the reopening of the port of Dover and Eurotunnel to the 2,800 lorries queuing on the M20 and at Manston Airport.

The French government has opened the border to those travelling for ‘urgent reasons’ - which includes hauliers – in addition to French citizens and British citizens with French residency until the end of the year.

However, travellers must have a negative test result within the previous 72 hours before departure.
