The final report from the inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire is unlikely to be published until next year, according to the inquiry team.
In a recent progress report, the Grenfell Tower Inquiry teams said they hope to complete the drafting of the report before the end of 2023.
However, before the report is published the team is legally required to write to those who have been criticised, explaining the basis on which the criticism has been made.
‘We shall send the report to the Prime Minister, as required by our terms of reference, as soon as we can but that will probably not be possible before the beginning of next year,’ a statement from the team read.
‘The Prime Minister will decide when the report will be published and by whom, but we are ready to act quickly if he asks us to publish it, as we think likely.’
On Monday it was confirmed that Kensington & Chelsea LBC was among the defendants that have agreed a £150m civil compensation settlement for victims of the Grenfell tragedy.
