Cultural services, community support and parks and green spaces are all at risk of cuts without a boost to the local government finance settlement, respondents to a District Councils’ Network (DCN) survey have warned.
Many councils indicated they will need to consider making efficiency savings in statutory services such as environmental (59%), planning (33%) and benefits support (32%).
Respondent councils said they were aiming to deliver an average of almost £800,000 in efficiency savings – equating to 9.3% of net revenue budgets on average and amounting to £62m in total.
