Blackpool Council has appointed Neil Jack as its new chief executive, after an external recruitment process.
Mr Jack is currently the director of finance and resources at Blackpool Coastal Housing and will take over from the current chief executive, Steve Weaver, when he retires in a few month's time.
Mr Jack has been director of finance and resources at Blackpool Coastal Housing since 2006, and prior to joining the arms length management organisation (ALMO), worked for the council in the finance department.
'I am delighted that we have offered the role to Neil Jack,' said council leader, Cllr Simon Blackburn.
'The appointment of a financial director to the role shows the importance placed on managing the council through a very tough financial climate,' he added.
'The fact that his background is in housing also reflects our priority of improving housing across the borough.'
The outgoing chief executive, Mr Weaver, said: 'Blackpool will always have a special place in my heart. I am proud of the achievements in terms of regenerating the resort and helping to improve the local economy, and providing jobs for local people.'
