Sheffield City Council has hailed its regeneration project for helping to attract ‘world-class brands’ after Radisson Blu opened a new hotel within the site.
The local authority and development partner Queensberry are revamping the city centre as part of their £470m Heart of the City project.
The new 154-room hotel on Pinstone Street, overlooking the town hall, has a restaurant and bar, six meeting and event spaces, and a fitness centre.
It is the first new hotel to open in the city for many years.
Council chief executive Kate Josephs said the hotel would be a ‘tremendous asset’ to Sheffield.
She added: ‘Our significant investment and regeneration projects in the city centre are helping us attract some world-class brands and Radisson Blu undoubtedly raises the bar for hospitality in South Yorkshire.’
A senior vice president at the Radisson Hotel Group, Tom Flanagan Karttunen, said: ‘The opening of Radisson Blu Hotel, Sheffield, marks a significant milestone for us and the city.’
