Triple Award Shortlisting Shows Vent-Axia’s Commitment to a Lo-Carbon Future

Triple Award Shortlisting Shows Vent-Axia’s Commitment to a Lo-Carbon Future image

The H&V News Awards has shortlisted leading British ventilation manufacturer, Vent-Axia, within two categories in its 2023 awards. As well as being named as a double finalist in the Domestic Ventilation Product of the Year category with its award-winning Lo-Carbon™ Multivent MEV Range and its award-winning Lo-Carbon PoziDry Pro™, the company’s Heat Recovery Retrofit Solution has also reached the final in the Net Zero Impact category. The triple-award shortlisting illustrates Vent-Axia’s commitment to offering its customers’ more sustainable ventilation solutions, helping housebuilders and social housing providers meet their environmental goals.

Both the Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon™ Multivent range of centralised mechanical extract ventilation (MEV) and the Lo-Carbon PoziDry Pro™ Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) are manufactured from recycled plastic. This marks an industry step-change in ventilation manufacture by moving from virgin to recycled plastic, enabled through investment in specialist manufacturing equipment. This allows Vent-Axia to produce the ranges in recycled material without affecting the units’ function or award-winning performance. Meanwhile, Vent-Axia’s Heat Recovery Retrofit Solution, is the first in the UK to have been specifically designed for easy, lower cost retrofit of heat recovery ventilation to save maximum energy and emissions and comply with the requirements of PAS 2035 in the social housing sector.

'We are delighted to gain a triple shortlisting in the prestigious H&V News Awards. At Vent-Axia we’re committed to offering more sustainable choices for our customers through continuously improving our products’ energy performance, reducing waste throughout our products’ lifecycle and significantly increasing the use of recycled plastic from the circular economy in the manufacture of our products. We are therefore thrilled to be recognised by the industry for our innovation in this area,' said Lena Hebestreit, Marketing Manager.

Vent-Axia’s market-leading Multivent MEV range offers a total of nine units, including its new MVDC-MSH Uniflex MEV unit. Manufactured from a reliable recycled source which is regularly available, the new Multivent MEV units are now available in black, rather than white, as they are made from black recycled ABS. Designed to provide a simple and effective solution to help housebuilders meet DER requirements through market-leading energy efficiency and improving indoor air quality (IAQ) for homeowners, the Multivent MEV range provides the ideal solution for new build residential projects. On top of this, the move to recycled plastic further improves the environmental credentials of the product for housebuilders and homeowners.

Meanwhile, using recycled plastic for the PoziDry ProTM is designed to lower social housing's carbon footprint, helping providers meet their carbon targets, while at the same time providing effective ventilation and a solution for hard-to-treat mould. Manufactured from recycled ABS plastic, the units are still market-leading but are now more sustainable as well.

Designed to improve IAQ and prevent moisture build-up within social housing properties, the PoziDry ProTM provides a highly effective solution to help households and landlords control condensation and mould, as well as offering high levels of air filtration. Providing fresh, tempered air into the home the PoziDry ProTM creates an indoor environment where condensation and mould find it hard to exist, benefiting occupants and avoiding the damaging effects on the building. Air is drawn into the PoziDry ProTM unit via the loft from outside and incoming air is filtered via the high grade G4 or F7 filters removing nasty contaminates before gently introducing it into the habitable areas of the property. The diffuser directs the airflow upwards where the incoming air mixes with the warm air that gathers at ceiling height.

Finally, Vent-Axia's Heat Recovery Retrofit Solution aims to help deliver decarbonisation in social housing by providing the right ventilation support on the journey to Net Zero Homes by 2050 and healthier homes. One of the risks associated with retrofitting a low-energy home is the need to increase the airtightness of properties. If ventilation is not considered too this can create poor IAQ and condensation leading to mould growth, which blights many homes across the UK.

The Heat Recovery Retrofit Solution range has been designed to provide increased ventilation while minimising unnecessary heat loss through heat recovery technology. This new decentralised ventilation technology offers heat recovery and effective ventilation. It provides heat recovery ventilation, with discrete, smaller, easy to install wall and ceiling units, dramatically reducing the complexity and cost of installation, as well as meeting the PAS 2035 requirements. For residents it improves IAQ, comfort and cuts energy bills.

The winners of the H&V News Awards will be announced on Thursday 23 November 2023 at a glittering ceremony held at the London Hilton Metropole. As the longest-running and most celebrated awards, the H&V News Awards have firmly established themselves as the Oscars for the building services industry.
