The deputy leader of Reform UK-controlled Worcestershire County Council has resigned after just three months in the job.

Cllr David Taylor will reportedly remain a member of the cabinet, with Cllr Rob Wharton filling in as deputy on a temporary basis.

Council leader Joanne Monk told the BBC that Taylor had ‘made the decision to step down as deputy leader’.

She added: ‘David will continue to be a part of the leadership team in his role as cabinet member for One Worcestershire which covers local government reorganisation.’

Local Conservative leader Adam Kent said: ‘Reform promised strong leadership – instead, residents are being subjected to civil war in their ranks, resignations, and bitter infighting.’

The decision follows the news that the Reform UK deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council had also decided to step down.
