Manchester 'frustrated' at pace of devolution

Manchester’s leader has said there is ‘a long way to go’ to meet the city’s devolution ambitions.

Despite progress in negotiations for a ‘trailblazer’ deal with the Government, Bev Craig said devolution fell short of what Greater Manchester needed.

Speaking at an event organised by the Institute for Government think-tank, she said: ‘We haven’t got all we asked for.

'There’s still a significant way to go.

‘That fundamental relationship between central and local government hasn’t been cracked.’
