Hull City Council has launched a survey of residents to find out if they are happy.

Respondents to the online questionnaire are invited to click on sliders and move them either way to show if they are happy or unhappy, whether they are satisfied with their lives and whether they feel they belong.

It also includes choices about what is important in people's lives, including having good friends and family, a nice home and a job they enjoy.

A further question invites people to select one of five faces to express how proud they are of themselves.

It gives them a choice of words to describe themselves ranging from ‘ambitious and ‘attractive’ to ‘determined’, ‘vibrant’ and ‘warm’.

The survey is part of a wider consultation with residents to give them a say in shaping the city and council services.

The council believes that part of listening to people is meeting them where they are and how they feel day-to-day.

Council leader Mike Ross said the survey is about opening a dialogue with locals, businesses and others to help shape the authority's long-term vision for the city.
