Developers have confirmed plans to build a Nuclear and Clean Energy Technology Park in Gloucestershire.
According to Gloucestershire County Council, the project is set to boost the local economy and workforce through the creation of 1,000 jobs.
Proposals for the scheme involve the redevelopment of the former Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park in Berkeley, offering ‘new opportunities for residents’ in the tech and nuclear sector.
Cllr Julian Tooke, Cabinet Member for Business, Economic Development, Planning and Infrastructure at Gloucestershire County Council said the project will enable the local authority to recruit ‘top talent’, whilst also advancing its 2024–2034 Economic Strategy, which seeks to promote ‘sustainable growth and innovation’.
Cllr Tooke commented: ‘We are committed to working collaboratively all stakeholders and the wider community to ensure that this project delivers long-term social, economic and environmental benefits.
‘We encourage residents to participate in the ongoing public consultation and help shape the future of this transformative initiative.’
