Eleven local authorities in the East of England have teamed up as part of a new initiative aimed at recruiting more people to become foster carers.
There are more than 7,000 children in the care of their council and a further 150 more children go into care every month in the East of England.
The Foster East initiative, which is funded by the Department of Education, aims to provide more training and support to foster carers.
It will also provide a network offering respite care for foster families needing a break.
The councils involved include:
• Bedford Borough Council
• Cambridgeshire County Council
• Central Bedfordshire Council
• Essex County Council
• Hertfordshire County Council
• Luton Borough Council
• Norfolk County Council
• Peterborough City Council
• Southend-on-Sea City Council
• Suffolk County Council
• Thurrock Council
