Oxfordshire County Council has agreed to pay £7,900 in compensation after council failures led to a child missing out on four terms of education.

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman (LGSCO) told the council to make the payment after the child, who has special needs, was not provided with the correct support between June 2023 and October 2024.

The LGSCO also told the county council to review another 13 cases over the past two years.

A council spokesperson said: ‘We are committed to providing the best education and support for every young person in Oxfordshire and have agreed a course of action with the local government ombudsman for this particular case.’
