Care homes in Scotland have warned they are at risk of closure as they rejected a 6% fee increase from councils.
Scottish Care has refused to sign the national care home contract with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) – an agreement determining weekly fees - after talks on the grounds it was no longer sufficient due to rising costs.
A spokesperson for Scottish Care said: ‘We recognise the immense pressure that local government is under and we recognise that the offer currently on the table – a 6% increase – is realistically the best they can offer.
