Local authority leaders in Scotland have offered to ‘supplement and enhance’ the latest pay offer to trade unions to prevent further strikes.
In September, the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) decided to push ahead with a pay increase of £1,292 or 3.6%, whichever is higher.
GMB and Unite had voted to accept the offer but UNISON rejected it, threatening further strike action.
The Scottish Government and COSLA have now agreed to discuss local government finance, a new pay protocol, a minimum hourly rate of £15, and reducing the working week.
A statement from COSLA said: ‘We have written to all three trade unions, supplementing and enhancing the already strong pay offer on the table, which has been accepted by GMB and Unite.’
UNISON said it will now consult their members and recommend they agree to conclude this year’s pay negotiations and move to talks for next year.
