Commissioners at Birmingham City Council have warned it will struggle to agree a lawful budget next year without further help.

A report to senior Birmingham councillors next week features revised plans to deliver £165m worth of savings in 2024-25 and £35m in 2025-26 as the UK’s largest authority moves into cost-saving mode.

Birmingham issued a section 114 notice after revealing an estimated equal pay liability of up to £750m by 2025 and the cost of a botched IT project estimated at £120m.
