Bradford Council is set to cut 113 jobs as part of an initiative to find £40m in the next three years in an effort to avoid declaring effective bankruptcy.
The local authority warned last month that it will have to issue a section 114 notice unless the Government provides ‘exceptional’ financial support.
Bradford Council yesterday published a series of proposals to help balance the books, including increasing fees, charges, and council tax.
According to a report set to be discussed next week, the council also warned that 113 employees ‘may be at risk of redundancy.’
‘Every effort will be made in line with council policy to ensure that staff affected will be re-deployed,’ the report said.
The council is currently forecasting budget pressures of £73m in the current financial year and £103.6m in 2024-25.
