A Home Office minister has pledged to be more open with councils after agreeing the department's communication was ‘no longer fit for purpose'.

Speaking at the Local Government Association conference in Liverpool last week, Tamworth BC chief executive Stephen Gabriel said information about Home Office use of hotels for asylum seeker accommodation was either not shared or only at very short notice.
