A mobile library relief driver who worked through gales and heavy rain has won a top national award.
The Public and Mobile Libraries Group named Essex CC’s Fiona Litscher Mobile Library Champion of the Year.
Judges highlighted Fiona’s dedication and reliability after ensuring mobile library services continued during periods of bad weather earlier this year.
Fiona said: ‘It’s very rare that I’m speechless but I was in total shock to hear I had won this award.
‘I am there to cover the other drivers and the work they do so this award really is for the whole mobile team at Essex CC.’
Essex’s cabinet member for education and lifelong learning, Cllr Ray Gooding, added: ‘It’s fantastic that the efforts of Fiona have been recognised in this way.’
