A substantial majority of Unite members have voted to reject the latest local government pay offer.
A spokesperson confirmed that the vote was won with 85% rejecting the offer of a pay increase of at least £1,290, which equates to a 5.8% rise for the lowest paid.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: ‘Our members have overwhelmingly rejected the entirely inadequate local government pay offer. For years local authority workers have seen real terms pay cuts and underinvestment that have brought the sector to its knees.’
The vote follows the news that 53% of GMB members voted to support the offer.
Unison, the largest local government union, last week voted to reject the offer.
