UKIP councillor expelled for 'jaw-dropping' remarks

A UKIP councillor from Thanet DC was thrown out of the party last month over racist comments made to a BBC documentary.

Cllr Rozanne Duncan was expelled from the party just before Christmas, but her comments – described as ‘jaw-dropping’ - were not made public.

Now local website Kent Online has revealed she allegedly claimed to have a problem with ‘negroes’ because there was ‘something about their faces’.

The comments were made to a BBC documentary on UKIP in South Thanet – where party leader is due to stand for election in May.

Cllr Duncan, who claims she is not racist, refused to confirm or deny whether she had made the comments.

According to UKIP Cllr Duncan was expelled for ‘bringing the party into disrepute’.

Cllr Duncan was elected to Thanet council for Cliftonville East ward in 2013, after a by-election triggered by the jailing of former council leader Sandy Ezekiel.
