Two in five say officer-member relations are poor

More than 40% of town hall staff and councillors believe officer-member relations are poor and hinder performance, a new study has found.

Research by consultancy Cratus found 42% believed ‘officer-member relationships were not functioning as they should be and there was room for improvement’.

Of the 42%, the majority were senior officers.

The study was based on interviews with 140 senior officers and councillors across the UK.
