Trafford Council is to ask Whitehall for more than £20m in exceptional financial support (EFS) after its deficit increased by £24m under the fair funding review.

Labour council leader Tom Ross said the Government's funding formula changes had ‘hit us hard' and followed ‘historic funding deficits, increasing cost pressures and rising need for services'.
