Surrey wins best council website award

Surrey County Council has won website of the year in the 2014 Socitm Awards.

The judges of the award gave the council’s website a four star rating, saying it contained ‘excellent’ information and the mobile site was ‘very good’.

The Digital Engagement Award was given to Sander Kristel, CIO at Staffordshire County Council, while the Innovation Award was presented to Kent Connects for its Transformed by You programme.

Dan Blundell from Northamptonshire County Council was recognised for his research project into what if local government were a start-up. Ralph McNally from Leeds City Council scoped the Member Award for his work in harmonising the IG Toolkit between health and local government.

Adrian Hancock, chief executive of Socitm, said: ‘The quality of all the entries for the Socitm Awards was very high and I would like to wholeheartedly congratulate our 2014 winners.’
