Sandra Dinneen, Head of Economic Development at Norfolk County Council, is being recommended for the chief executive’s job at South Norfolk District Council.

The recommendation came in a report to Cabinet on Monday (8 Septemebr) and was supported by councillors. It will now go for approval to full council, which meets on 22 September.

The announcement follows a national search for the right candidate, involving Council Leader John Fuller using YouTube with a five-minute recruitment video.

The council said its unusual move attracted hundreds of hits within hours of being announced, sparking a debate and coverage in the regional, national and specialist local government media.

Mrs Dineen lives in Tacolneston, South Norfolk, with her husband and two children.

Before Norfolk County Council she spent nine years at Norwich City Council as an economic development officer.
