Security takes a knock after technical fault

Birmingham City Council is failing to clear a backlog of unpaid invoices following computer glitches, according to a local businessman.
Lawson Evans owns Gemsec Security, which provides security services at The Pump community centre in Lea Village. He claims the council owes him £20,000.
Problems arose after new equipment was installed to reduce the amount of staff time taken to pay bills, but the invoice scanning system failed to work correctly leading to the huge backlog.
Birmingham City Council was unavailable for comment.
