The Local Government Association (LGA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with trade association techUK as part of the effort to drive forward digital transformation within local government.
The LGA said the partnership would foster ‘stronger collaboration between local government and the technology industry’.
The MoU, effective from 1 April 2025, sets out a 12-month framework for joint working and aims to support the Government’s six-point plan for a modern digital government.
Joanna Killian, CEO of the LGA, said: ‘This landmark MoU between techUK and the LGA marks a pivotal step in unlocking the transformative potential of digital technology for local government.
‘Recognising the urgent need for innovation in local government, the partnership between techUK and the LGA will champion collaboration, highlight the vital role of SMEs, and help improve service delivery.’
Julian David, CEO of techUK, added: ‘Technology has the power to transform public services, making them more accessible, responsive and efficient. This partnership is a welcome opportunity for the tech sector to work more closely with local government.’
