A new Parking Action Plan is being delivered by Bristol Airport, North Somerset Council and Avon and Somerset Police, to combat rogue parking companies.

Following a meeting between the three collaborators last month, the joint plan has been formed to tackle unauthorised off-site and on-street parking near the airport, as well as the related anti-social behaviour.

The parking surgery meeting saw 40 actions agreed by the group, including the introduction of new signage enforcing no stopping or waiting, a proposal to double the funding for the council’s planning enforcement team, and an increase in the capacity of the airport’s one-hour free waiting zone.

With over 1,000 monitoring visits being made by the local authority’s planning enforcement team last year, a council spokesperson said that it had seen a ‘record amount of enforcement activity since 2025’.

They added that the council is pleased about the airport’s progress in applying the actions in the Parking Action Plan and confirmed that the local authority will be strengthening its enforcement action against unauthorised sites and operators, as well as ‘working with surrounding communities who feel the impacts of anti-social street parking’.

Rob Henley, Transport Planning Manager at Bristol Airport said: ‘We encourage those customers who can use public transport to consider travelling to the Airport this way.’

He added: ‘We ask all customers who drive and taxi drivers to please be more considerate to the local community and not park outside homes. […] We are working hard with everyone to find and deliver the best resolutions to make a real difference to local communities.’

A Parking Reporting Guide has also been published on the airport’s website to outline which organisation manages specific issues.
