Johnson calls for ‘overdue’ fiscal devolution for councils

Boris Johnson has called for ‘long overdue’ fiscal devolution for local government saying it will help them fund services and encourage more housebuilding.

Give good councils the ability to retain stamp duty, council tax, business rate and annual tax on enveloped dwellings and they will have a motive to go for growth in their neighbourhood'.
