The Hampshire & Isle of Wight Partnership (HIOWP) has signed a £25m deal to extend its Public Service Network (PSN) for a further four years.
The contract extension with Virgin Media Business will see over 2,000 sites benefit from improved connectivity. The deal follows a successful £90m six year framework contract known as HPSN2 (Hampshire Public Service Network 2).
The network has saved Hampshire County Council over £1m per annum and has enabled Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to mobilise resources more quickly.
Jane Stedman, support, quality and security manager at Hampshire County Council, said: ‘Now more than ever, we need to ensure that we make the best use of the technology available to reduce costs and sustain quality services. Working in partnership with Virgin Media Business, we will continue to meet future challenges for improving services, while maximising efficiencies and savings.’
HPSN2 covers all aspects of telecommunications including wide area networking (WAN), fixed and mobile telephony, internet services, local area networking (LAN) and video conferencing.
