Government warned resilience forums could be stretched

Local resilience forums (LRFs) would be stretched if Brexit forced them into 24/7 operations over an extended period, the Government has been warned in a report leaked to The MJ.

LRFs have highlighted to Whitehall mandarins the challenges they are expected to face, especially in winter or if concurrent incidents occurred.

Most LRFs have said that their planning for the potential impacts of Brexit have already caused a ‘cessation or major de-prioritisation of other business-as-usual planning activity and exercising’.

An ‘official-sensitive’ Government document summarising LRF feedback on Brexit planning and preparedness read: ‘It is recognised that the scale of the potential response would challenge LRF member resources.
