Coventry City Council has dropped proposed cuts to funding for charity-run adult services, street cleaning and council tax support due to an increase in Government funding.

Cllr Richard Brown, cabinet member for Finance and Resources, said the settlement from the Government was ‘better than expected’.

The council can now remove £3m of planned cuts from the draft budget and has announced £2.2m of investment in highways, street cleansing, community safety and community events.
