Four construction firms have secured contracts as part of a potential £10bn development plan for the West Midlands regional framework.
Mansell, Morgan Sindall, Thomas Vale and Wilmott Dixon fended off leading industry competitors to land deals exceeding £500,000 a year as part of the four-year West Midlands framework, worth an estimated £3 billion.
The £3bn scheme will form part of the Birmingham Big City Plan, and is expected to be incorporated into the £10bn plan published in September last year.
Birmingham City Council will oversee the plans, which could be extended to eight years, and hopes to win support from local government and community organisations in the West Midlands as agreements are established.
John Frankiewicz, chief executive officer of Willmott Dixon Capital Works said:'Our major presence in the West Midlands saw us spend nearly £180m with local companies last year.
'We are really looking forward to continuing that investment in the local economy by working with Birmingham City Council on the new framework to realise its ambitious future plans for growth and development across the city.'
