The former boyfriend of an ‘intelligent and thoughtful’ senior council officer has been found guilty of her murder.
Jonathan Tebbs, 46, killed 40-year-old Kate Dixon, Islington LBC’s joint head of strategy, equality and performance, Southwark Crown Court heard.
Oxbridge graduate Miss Dixon, who had worked for Islington since 2007 in a role that focussed on helping some of the borough’s most vulnerable people, was murdered after she tried to end her relationship with Tebbs.
Miss Dixon had played a leading role in delivering key council priorities, including tackling child poverty and closing the gap between the borough’s rich and poor.
Detective Inspector Louise Knipe said: ‘What was clear to us throughout this investigation was that Kate Dixon had finally summoned the courage she needed to leave Tebbs. ‘However, he was of the mindset that if he couldn’t have her, no one else would.’
