Councillors and members of the public are not being presented with accurate or easy to understand information about local authority budgets, a report has found.

The report by worker co-operative Research for Action and the University of Sussex said austerity cuts had left finance departments without the capacity to ensure data was readily available, while some officers lacked the expertise to oversee accounts or advise on budget decisions.
