Plans to slash the number of managers and impose a recruitment freeze at Redbridge LBC are expected to save £5m if approved by councillors.
The proposal, which will be considered by councillors next week, envisages the council having a third fewer chief officers than in 2006.
Redbridge already has fewer senior managers than almost every other London borough.
Council leader Cllr Jas Athwal said: ‘These are not decisions that will be taken lightly.
‘We need to ensure, and we will, that we continue to deliver important and essential outcomes for our residents, albeit with a leaner staffing structure.
‘We want the public to know that we will do all we can to reduce our costs while maintaining essential frontline services.’
