A council has raised concerns about a group camping in the Scottish Border woodlands.
Two eviction notices are said to have been issued to the group, who go by the name of the Kingdom of Kubala, with the Scottish Borders Council taking legal action last week.
The three members of the group have reportedly said they are reclaiming the land that was taken away from their ancestors 400 years prior.
Police Scotland has purportedly described the situation as ‘complex’ and highlighted the importance of coming to a long-term solution, according to the BBC.
However, councillors are said to have questioned the police’s handling of the situation and declared the £6,000 eviction cost as ‘unacceptable’.
Following the commencement of eviction action, a council spokesman reportedly said that ‘officers will proceed through the next steps as quickly as possible’.
The council has been contacted for comment.
