A council-owned development firm is expected to close just two years after it was launched.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council has proposed to close FuturePlaces and bring operations in-house as it scales down its ambitions in the face of rising costs.

A report by officers to be voted on later this month suggested the move would ensure development took place in a 'more controlled and cost-effective manner’.

Speaking about the proposals, chief operations officer Jess Gibbons said: ‘The economic environment has changed – we have had to reconsider the scale, making sure we are focused on key projects.’
