Council dismisses Sherwood Forest migrant camp story

Nottinghamshire CC has dismissed rumours about an illegal migrant camp in Sherword Forest as untrue.

The far-right group Britain First claimed the forest had been ‘invaded by migrants' who are chopping down trees, killing deer and threatening people with knives.

Photos used by the extremist group purporting to show the ‘illegal’ camps are actually tree houses built by local youngsters, the BBC reports.

Izi Banton, the site manager at Sherwood Forest Country Park, also confirmed: ‘Sherwood Forest Country Park is managed by Nottinghamshire County Council but there have been no illegal encampments set up within the country park site.’
