Herefordshire Council is seeking legal advice due to safety issues surrounding a high street building.

The building in Ledbury town centre has been flagged as a concern due to the property collapsing.

According to the council, its Building Control Team is abiding by the section 77 process of the Building Act 1985 following ‘concerns about the safety of the rear of the building’.

A council spokesperson said: ‘We have written to the owner to establish their intentions, but the owner has not yet engaged with us to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

‘The team will now meet with legal services to establish the likelihood of obtaining a court order through the section 77 process, specifically to make the rear of the building safe.’
