Buckinghamshire Council has issued an apology after a man was threatened by bailiffs over unpaid council tax.

Colin Phillips, 53, said he was not given the required notice before being confronted by bailiffs at his home over a £1,139.52 council tax debt.

Mr Phillips told the BBC that he had not realised he owed any money because enforcement letters had gone to his old address.

The council apologised to Mr Phillips and said they had ‘reached a resolution’ over his case, but ‘fully acknowledged the anxiety this process must have caused’.
