The Government must introduce long-term funding mechanisms for Children’s Services to address increasing complexity and rising demand, a new report says.

Key Cities, a cross-party network of local authorities, has launched a new report setting out a number of recommendations for addressing the social care crisis.

As well as more funds for Children’s Services, Social care: views from the front line urges the Government to empower local authorities to build care homes and calls for a national workforce strategy to address recruitment and retention challenges in social care.

It also recommends that the Government should develop partnerships with local authorities and universities to improve data analysis, access to resources and the understanding of current care and areas for improvement.
