Birmingham City Council has secured a High Court injunction against ‘persons unknown’ aimed at preventing blockading at the authority’s waste depots.
The order was granted following a hearing on 13 February and responds to what the council described as ‘obstruction’ at its facilities.
Under the injunction, anyone found to be in breach could face up to two years’ imprisonment, fines or asset seizure for contempt of court.
The legal action follows similar previous applications by the council to manage protests and disruptions affecting waste services against the backdrop of the council’s ongoing pay dispute with the union Unite.
